Overview
As part of a strategic modernization initiative, we executed a database migration from DB2 z/OS to GCP Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL. I first encountered Ispirer while evaluating tools to accelerate and de risk this transformation. Based on our experience, Ispirer proved to be a strong and reliable partner throughout the migration lifecycle.
Context and Rationale
The primary objective was to retire legacy mainframe dependencies, align with a cloud-first strategy, and position the platform for greater scalability, agility, and cost efficiency. This required a secure, predictable path to convert schemas, logic, and data with minimal disruption.
Migration Direction
Pre Migration Challenges
As with most mainframe offload programs, we anticipated multiple challenges—including compatibility gaps, conversion accuracy, and the need for repeatable tooling and support. With Ispirer’s structured approach and timely guidance, the migration proceeded smoothly.
Ispirer’s Role
Ispirer provided both capable automation and a highly responsive support team. Their guidance was consistent and pragmatic, helping the team address questions quickly and keep momentum across discovery, conversion, testing, and cutover phases.
Business Impact
Post migration, the customer eliminated dependency on legacy DB2 z/OS mainframe systems. This outcome has enabled a more modern operating model with improved flexibility and clearer pathways to ongoing optimization in the cloud.
Recommendation
I recommend Ispirer for cloud database migrations. The combination of tooling strength, ease of use, and an intuitive UI, backed by reliable support, makes it a compelling choice for enterprise-grade modernization initiatives.
