The company’s IT solutions are aimed at introduction of technological progress in medical industry and help to ease connection between different medical settings and therefore ensure forehanded care for patients. Their solutions are applied in more than 40 countries by 400 thousand of customers, i.e. hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies.
Ispirer was undergoing a massive project that involved database migration from Microsoft SQL Server into Oracle environment. Our client wanted to automate the migration of the extensive database which included 1400 tables, hundreds of views and several thousands of lines of code contained in views and stored procedures, functions, triggers, scripts and packages. They needed a way to seamlessly convert all the business logic and data to Oracle.
Ispirer proposed the client a solution that involved custom improvement of Ispirer MnMTK 2015 and further automated migration process on the client’s side. First step was to gather the requirements for each of the database objects in Oracle environment. Then, on the basis on these requirements, special conversion rules were developed. Ispirer MnMTK 2015 technology allows adopting it to a certain project in order to ensure the highest level of automation for a future migration.
Ispirer migration developers completed the implementation of custom conversion rules into the Toolkit. Since the customization stage was over, the client was licensed Ispirer MnMTK 2015 for twelve months.
Results and Advantages
The client received a fully tailored migration solution along with user guide on how to use the Ispirer MnMTK 2015. The conversion of the database from Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle was running smoothly. The advanced functionality of Ispirer Migration Toolkit allowed almost 24 thousand lines of code to be migrated to Oracle step-by-step. The migration results were reported by the Toolkit and could be analyzed and tested.
