Our Singapore customer specializes in development of financial IT systems. The company provides solutions for stock breaking and assets administration firms. The range of their quality services include development of audit reporting, investment management and risk based capital systems.

Challenge

The company decided to change their database management system for internal reasons. The customer turned to Ispirer asking for a solution to migrate Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle.

Solution

During the Analysis Stage, the lspirer team evaluated the source database and the requirements to the target code. The migration project was quite massive and a series of additional developments were required to reach fully automated migration of all database objects.

At the Extension Stage, the Ispirer software was customized in such a way that all the tables, views, stored procedures and functions could be automatically converted to the Oracle environment without compromising functionality.

Ispirer Toolkit was licensed and delivered to the customer in ready for use. As a result, schema and more than 35,000 lines of Transact-SQL code were efficiently migrated to Oracle PL/SQL.

Benefits Derived from Conversion

The main advantage of the proposed solution was the ability to automate the database migration process, which allowed us to avoid product customization for each of the DMS and, of course, manual conversion.

Moreover, the Ispirer developers made it possible to complete such a large-scale project on time.
