Ispirer had an honor to work with a leading provider of banking and financial services in Europe. The company implements such activities as retail banking, corporate banking and institutional banking. It is a banking group that offers solutions to individuals and community associations. The company helps entrepreneurs, SMEs and institutional investors to realize their business projects providing excellent investment, insurance and saving opportunities. The banking group is represented in more than 70 countries.

Challenge

The client addressed to Ispirer asking for additional information about the solution we can offer for the challenge to move their essential database from Sybase ASE to PostgreSQL. Our migration specialists gave the client extensive consultations on migration issues of their business logic and data from Sybase ASE to PostgreSQL. After that our technical and business teams also conducted a video conference via WebEx showing the process of migration of the client’s own sample script with the help of Ispirer Toolkit. Migration automation level was quite high already and the client decided to start the project.

The task was to provide the highest level of automation for migration of about 10 GB of data and more than 30 thousand lines of code of business logic. Ispirer migration professionals got down to business.

Solution

The Ispirer software was customized based on the requirements of the client’s target database. Due to its flexibility, it was possible to archive almost 100% level of automation and correctness in migration. When Ispirer professionals finished their work, the client was able to simply launch the toolkit and get the data and business logic in the new environment. A couple of issues that arose in a post-migration period, were quickly resolved by Ispirer support consultant via e-mail.

Results & Advantages

With the help of Ispirer Toolkit, our customer was able to migrate correctly their database from Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise environment to PostgreSQL platform in short timeframe. The database migration process required no additional manual work from the client’s team.
