Johannesburg, November 5, 2009 – HP today announced a new release of the HP Neoview enterprise data warehousing platform, delivering line of sight for increased competitiveness through real-time business analytics.
HP Neoview Advantage includes upgrades to both the software and hardware components of HP Neoview. The software upgrade helps customers improve the performance of their enterprise data warehouse by dramatically lowering the complexity required to manage it. Using the new HP Neoview software, organisations can process mission-critical transactional and analytical workloads for reliable, real-time insights into their business.
The new hardware platform is based on the HP Integrity BladeSystem, a 24/7 mission-critical computing system built with bladed modularity and standards. This has the potential to provide customers with a substantial increase in storage capacity while significantly reducing their data center footprint and power and cooling requirements.
In an unpredictable environment, companies are challenged to use real-time data to see around the next corner and make the right business decisions. The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), the premier educational institute for business intelligence and data warehousing, recently conducted a survey that discusses today’s challenges of data warehousing while providing guidance for next-generation data warehouses.
The survey reports that 92 percent of respondents expect to have a real-time data warehousing platform in the next three years. The survey also states that 68 percent would prefer a massive parallel processing (MPP) architecture for their data warehouse.(1) The updated HP Neoview enterprise data warehouse platform delivers these new capabilities today.
Real-time decision making
- Ability to simultaneously load high volumes of information in real time, analyse hundreds of terabytes of mission-critical data, and support dramatic increases in user concurrency.
- Real-time access to information through higher performance for complex queries by scanning data from disks at hundreds of terabytes an hour.
Lowered total cost of ownership
- Preconfigured, tightly integrated solution that is prebalanced, prebuilt and pretested using high-volume industry-standard components, reducing overall system acquisition costs. These components include HP Integrity BladeSystem and HP StorageWorks disks.
- Manage a large volume of transactional and analytical workloads simultaneously on a single platform. This can only be achieved by other vendors through multiple platforms.
Reduced risk of downtime
- HP Neoview is a fault-tolerant system designed to meet the needs of 24/7 business intelligence environments.
- Minimises the risk of unplanned and planned system downtimes.
“Organisations have exploding requirements of information they need to manage and users they need to support,” said Manoj Bhoola,Country Manager,HP Enterprise Servers,Storage and Networking,HP Enterprise Business, HP South Africa. “With the latest release of HP Neoview, customers can gain real-time insight to mission-critical business information through enhanced performance and accessibility.”
HP Neoview Advantage also will incorporate deeper integration of third-party data and reporting platforms.
