Challenge
The client, working with Ispirer’s technology partner EMC Greenplum, expressed a desire to use the Greenplum platform. Our partner recommended Ispirer’s migration services as the most efficient option for the client’s Microsoft SQL Server to Greenplum migration project. A large number of SQL scripts were to be migrated within a short timeline. The EMC team planned to work onsite and subcontracted Ispirer to provide the remote database migration services.
Solution
Ispirer was working as part of the project team and chosen as a business logic service provider. The task entailed total involvement of our technical specialists and tool developers into the migration process. The key objective was to provide ready-to-implement conversion codes, so that the client would not have to deal with any issues after receiving the conversion results. Our technical specialists divided the working process into three parts – conversion of big-sized files, conversion of medium-sized files, and conversion of small-sized files, making the process well-structured and consistent. Ispirer’s automated migration tool SQLWays was used for migration. Some rapid replacements in the source code scripts were made and a few specific conversion rules were added into the tool.
Results and Advantages
Ispirer’s highly qualified and well-prepared team facilitated implementation of the database migration project. The team managed to deliver the migrated code within two months, in line with the project schedule and budget.
